Please tell me they’re going to have a club at the top of this ludicrous mile-high skyscraper

This frighteningly tall building is 6-7 times the height of London’s Canary Wharf and Paris’ Eiffel Tower, and double the size of the Freedom Tower currently under construction at the site of the World Trade Center in New York City.

The exact height is still TBC. But it's a lot.

The recently-greenlit Mile High Tower (also known as the Kingdom Tower) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia is a project owned by the a wealthy man who also owns the famous Savoy hotel in London, and is apparently being undertaken in partnership with two Bristish construction firms. They’re going to build it using helicopters and possibly a couple of spaceships.

Back on earth, being a member of the lovely Paramount club at the top of London’s iconic Centre Point tower, I know how nice it is to enjoy a cocktail or even a full blown party through the night, while taking in amazing views of a city you love. But at FOURTEEN TIMES the height of the West End landmark,  the Mile High Tower sounds rather more dramatic. They just need to - you know - build it… and an actual city to gawk at while you’re up there.

This is the future. But if you can’t get shitfaced or have sex somewhere near the top of the world’s only mile-high building, you have to wonder what the point of it all is.

The Daily Mail came up with one of the more meaningful comparison shots we've seen.
